HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams continued Gulf South Conference play on Sunday as the men's team fell 8-1 to No. 1 West Florida while the women's team fell 9-0 to No. 5 UWF.

The men's squad is now 2-4 (1-2 GSC) on the season, while the women are 3-2 (2-1 GSC).

In the men's match, UWF claimed all three doubles points with the best showing from the Chargers coming at the No. 1 where Kiearan Roskell-Thomas and Guilhereme Coleta dropped an 8-5 decision.

UAH's point in the match in singles action as
James Caddies picked up a 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 victory at the fifth spot.

At the No. 1 position,
Dylan Hall took four games from the nation's seventh-ranked player in falling 6-3, 6-1, while
Elliot Hopson won five games against the country's No. 23 at the third position in a 6-2, 6-3 setback.

In the women's contest, UAH put up a solid effort in doubles play as the No. 3 pairing of
Cristina Cabanas and
Mariana Lopez fell by a slim 8-6 score, while
Stefanie Mehlich and
Sarah Stearman dropped an 8-5 decision at the top spot.

The top performance in singles action came at the No. 1 where Mehlich won the first set 6-3 before falling 6-2, 10-7.

Both teams return to action on Thursday when they step back out of conference play to take on Birmingham Southern on the road. The matches are slated to start at 4 p.m.
