Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

UAH Beats Notre Dame de Namur 14-6 on Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team knocked off visiting Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday, winning 14-6 at Charger Park. The Chargers match their win total from a season ago with five games left in the regular season and move to 6-2, while NDNU slips to 2-6.

Turning Point
-After the guests made it a two-goal game with 5:21 left in the third quarter, a string of seven straight scores from the Chargers including three from Kevin Coppinger during that run put the contest away.

Inside the Box Score
-Emory Weaver was strong once again, scoring four more goals to lead the Chargers in scoring, while Coppinger had a team-best five points from three goals and two assists.
-Matching Weaver's point output, Collin Wilcox logged four points on the strength of a pair of goals and two assists, while Adam Zois had a three-point day with two scores and a helper.
-Nik Kubik, James Cox, and Nicholas Ranta owned the other goals for the Chargers, while Jack Utrevis, Colton Nall, and Ethan Randell each had an assist.
-Randell also earned the win in goal as he made 13 saves in the victory.
-The Chargers fired off 44 shots to NDNU's 36, and the hosts also held a 27-19 advantage in shots that were on target in the game.
-UAH picked up 47 ground balls in the victory compared to 31 for the guests, and Kubik had a team-best nine on the day.

Inside the Flow
-The Argos scored the game's first goal, but back-to-back tallies from Weaver lifted the Chargers to a 2-1 lead by the end of the first quarter, and though the guests would tie it up at 2-2, UAH scored three times in the second to claim a 5-2 lead at the half.
-NDNU then scored the first two markers of the third quarter to pull within one at the 12:55 mark, but Kubik responded by winning the faceoff and taking it all the way down and scoring just six seconds later to put UAH back ahead by a pair.
-Weaver then scored his fourth goal of the day, and though the Argos would narrow the gap to just two at 7-5 with 5:21 lefft in the quarter, Coppinger would take over the game by notching four of his five points in the final minutes of the third quarter to help put the Chargers in front 12-5 going into the fourth.
-UAH then outscored the visitors 2-1 in the fourth to create the 14-6 final.

Noteworthy
-Coppinger takes over the team lead in points with 24 thanks to his 15 goals and nine assists.
-Ranta becomes the fourth player for UAH this season to reach double figures in goals as he now has 10.
-Weaver matches his season-high with the four goals, and he has scored seven in the past two games to total 14 on the year.
-The assist for Randell is the first-ever by a UAH goalie, and he moves to 2-0 on the year in goal for the Chargers.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be off until March 21 when the team steps back into GLVC play with a visit to Indianapolis that is slated for a noon start.
