3/28/2018 4:19:00 PM

AUGUSTA, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville tennis teams wrapped up their swing through the Peach State as both squads dropped 6-3 decisions at Augusta. The women's team slips to 6-8 on the year, while the men's team drops to 5-12.

In the women's match, the Chargers received their first point in the match when Cristina Cabanas and Stefanie Mehlich breezed past the opposition for an 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot in doubles, but Augusta had a 3-1 lead by winning at the No. 2 and holding two points with UAH's injuries not permitting the team to field a full lineup.

UAH's other two points in the match came at the top two positions in singles.

At the No. 1, Mehlich won 6-1, 6-0 for her most dominant win of the year in singles play, while Cabanas was a 6-2, 7-6 winner at the second spot.

Stearman made a strong bid at the No. 3, but she ultimately fell 7-5, 5-7, 10-5.

In the men's contest, the Chargers also picked up the point at the top position in singles as Dylan Hall and Tim Nutz teamed together for an 8-5 win.

In singles play, Nutz earned his first shutout of the year in winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4, while Hall won at the No. 3 when his opponent was forced to retire.

Both teams will be off Thursday before returning to play on Friday at home against Auburn Montgomery in contests that are slated to start at 1 p.m.
