UAH Falls in Series Finale at Shorter on Saturday

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team fell in the Gulf South Conference series finale at Shorter on Saturday by a final score of 6-4 at Ledbetter Field. UAH dips to 17-15 (9-9 GSC), while SU rises to 16-17 (7-11 GSC).
 
Game Changer
- Shorter produced a four-run rally to break a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning which allowed the Hawks to notch the 6-4 win on Saturday.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The Chargers totaled six hits in the contest as six players recorded one hit apiece.
- Walden notched one of the Chargers two extra-base hits with a double in addition to a team-high two RBI and one run scored.
- Ben Rhodes drew a team-high two walks on Saturday while also scoring a run.
- Jay Copeland registered a double in the contest for his lone hit of the day.
- Robby Seemann finished 1-for-4 at the plate with one RBI.
- UAH starting pitcher Riley Camp went 3.1 innings with two runs allowed and one strikeout. Camp was given a no-decision in the loss.
- Dustin Sharp took the loss out of the bullpen to drop his season record to 0-2, tossing 2.1 innings of relief with one hit allowed, three earned runs and two strikeouts.
- Dylan Murphy had a strong outing out of the bullpen with 2.0 scoreless innings with a team-high five strikeouts.
 
Key Plays
- Shorter plated one run apiece in the first and second innings to give the hosts an early 2-0 lead.
- Walden evened the contest at 2-2 in the top of the third with a two-RBI double to left-center.
- Both sides would go scoreless in the fourth and fifth innings, until Shorter took a pivotal 6-2 lead with a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth.
- UAH was able to cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the seventh, but the Hawks hung on for the 6-4 win.
 
Noteworthy
- Murphy's five strikeouts are a season-high for the freshman.
- Walden has recorded 11 doubles this season to five him three campaigns with 11 doubles or more. He now has 42 doubles in his career.

- UAH begins a nine-game homestand with a Tuesday matchup at Charger Park against Tuskegee at 4 p.m.
