UAH Returns to GSC Play with Two Games this Week

UPCOMING WEEK: UAH (9-3, 3-1 GSC) jumps back into Gulf South Conference play with a pair of league matchups this week beginning on Wednesday at 3 p.m. CT at Lee before hosting Montevallo on Saturday at Charger Park at 1 p.m. The Chargers Wednesday contest at Lee is the final regular-season road matchup of 2018.
 
RECENT ACTION: The Chargers most recently played on March 31 when the squad wrapped up its Sunshine State tour with a 19-11 win at Embry-Riddle, which featured six Chargers scoring two goals or more. UAH finishes the regular season with a 6-2 record in nonconference games.
 
BACK IN THE POSTSEASON: UAH has garnered its third straight berth to the GSC invitational this upcoming April 27-29 before heading into the second half of the league schedule. The Chargers currently sit in second in the conference at 3-1, behind Young Harris who boasts a 6-0 GSC mark entering the week. Montevallo (3-3 GSC), Lee (2-4 GSC) and Shorter (0-6 GSC) round out the league in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
 
STAYING POTENT: The Chargers remain atop NCAA Division II in scoring offense with an average of 19.67 goals per game, paced by Nicole Federovitch who is third in the GSC and eighth in the nation with 51 tallies entering the week. Additionally, UAH's offense features a total of three players in the top 10 in the GSC in goals per game, including Nicole Federovitch (2nd, 4.25), Alanna Carvalho (4th, 3.67) and Abbey O'Brien (7th, 2.75).
 
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Leslie Allen Brown boasts a league-leading 9.17 goals against average, which sits at 13th nationally enterin the week. Brown has started 11 games for the Chargers, totaling a .411 save percentage with 67 saves.
 
FLAMES PROFILE: Lee begins the week's slate with an 8-7 overall record and 2-4 mark within the GSC, after most recently throttling Truett-McConnell 26-2 on Saturday. The Flames offense is led by Becca Broadwick with 72 points from 55 goals and 17 assists, while Abby Sanders has played the majority of time in goal with a 14.20 goals against average and a .358 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 3-0 all-time against Lee, with the Chargers taking the most recent matchup earlier this season 26-7 on Feb. 21 at Charger Park.
 
FALCONS PROFILE: Montevallo owns an 8-6 overall record and a 3-3 record within the conference, following an 18-7 victory over Shorter this past Saturday. Nicole Pahnke leads the Falcons offense with 72 goals and 31 assists for 103 points, while Irfana Ahmed has played the majority of time in goal with a 14.71 goals against average and a .465 save percentage.
