UAH Tops LeMoyne-Owen, Falls to Ouachita Baptist to Wrap Up UAH Classic

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team wrapped up play at the UAH Classic at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Saturday with a 3-0 win over LeMoyne-Owen before dropping the weekend finale to Ouachita Baptist by a 3-2 score.

- The Chargers return to action next weekend at the Auburn Montgomery Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama, with matchups slated against Tuskegee and Southern Wesleyan on Friday as well as a single match on Saturday against Talladega.

Turning Point
- UAH cruised to a 25-11 win in the opening frame to take the initial lead and would not look back as the Chargers won the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-4 for the three-set victory over LeMoyne-Owen.

- Hannah Lawless and Caroline Sanford shared the team lead in kills with eight each.
- Jordan Grammer and Kennedy Sellers rated second on the roster with six kills each while hitting .357 and .333, respectively, for the match.

- A back-and-forth affair for the majority of the contest, Ouachita Baptist was able to make a final push for the five-set victory by recording the last three points in fifth frame to notch the 15-12 win in the stanza.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The UAH attack was led by Anna LeDuc's match-best 23 kills on a .266 hitting percentage, while also registering a double-double with 19 digs.
- Isabelle Barnes also had a strong overall performance finishing second to LeDuc with 14 kills while boasting a team-best seven total blocks.
- Both Caroline Sanford and Lorah Yonce chipped in nine kills apiece, with Sanford owning a team-best .333 hitting percentage.
- Haley Hop headlined the Chargers defense with 29 digs, while a total of five UAH players had 10 digs or more including LeDuc (19), Kennedy Sellers (16), Sabrina Duncan (14) and Yonce (12) in addition to Hop's 29.
- LeDuc, Sellers and Yonce each had two service aces apeiece.
