UAH Claims Ninth Straight Win in Five-Set Victory at CBU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team notched its ninth consecutive victory on Friday night at Christian Brothers with a 3-2 win (22-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 15-6) to open the road Gulf South Conference slate. UAH improves to 11-2 (2-0 GSC), while CBU dips to 6-7 (0-1 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After going down 2-1 with a 25-20 loss in the third set, UAH proceeded to take the fourth and fifth frames by scores of 25-20 and 15-6, respectively, to notch the first conference road win.
 
Inside the Box Score
- The UAH offense was paced by Isabelle Barnes who led the attack with a team-high 14 kills and a .414 hitting percentage. Barnes additionally made a strong impact on defense, tying for the team lead in total blocks with five.
- Both Anna LeDuc and Caroline Sanford joined Barnes in double-digit kills with 13 successful swats each in addition to hitting percentages in excess of .330.
- Sabrina Duncan registered a double-double with a match-high 52 assists to go along with 12 digs. Duncan also had a team-high two service aces.
- Haley Hop anchored the defense with a team-high 28 digs, headlining a total of four Chargers with at least 10 digs.
- Abby Brooks (14 digs), Duncan (12 digs) and LeDuc (10 digs) joined Hop in double-digit kills.
- UAH hit .211 for the match, while limiting CBU to a .172 swing rate.
 
Inside the Action
- With the score tied 19-19 late in the first set, CBU proceeded to outscore the Chargers 6-3 on the way to a 25-22 win in the stanza.
- The Chargers offense kicked into gear in the second set for the 25-21 win in the frame to tie the contest at 1-1, as the squad had a match-high 15 kills in the set.
- CBU limited the Chargers to a .098 hitting percentage in the third, helping the Bucs reclaim the lead at 2-1 with a 25-20 win.
- UAH owned a 21-13 lead late in the fourth and withstood a late push by Christian Brothers to knot the match at 2-2 with a 25-20 win in the frame.
- The Chargers dominated the fifth and final set for the victory by a score of 15-6 while posting a match-high .353 hitting percentage in the stanza.
 
Noteworthy
- Hop's 28 digs are the second most in her senior season, and she's registered at least 20 digs in four contests.
- Duncan has eclipsed 50 assists twice this season.
