Chargers Comeback Effort Falls Short Friday Against Lee

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team's comeback bid fell short in pursuit of its 12th consecutive victory as Lee clipped the Chargers 3-2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 13-15) on Friday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in a Gulf South Conference matchup. UAH dips to 13-3 (3-1 GSC), while LU improves to 6-8 (4-0 GSC).
 
Turning Point
- After UAH evened the match at 2-2 with back-to-back 25-22 wins in the third and fourth frames to fourth a fifth set, Lee was able to take the fifth set with the final four points of the match for the 15-13 win in the frame for the five-set victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Isabelle Barnes had a spectacular offensive performance in the contest with a team-high 15 kills on a match-best .433 hitting percentage to go along with five total blocks, four digs and one service ace. Her five total blocks paced the roster.
- Abby Brooks and Anna LeDuc followed Barnes on the attack with 14 kills while each player also chipped in six digs.
-  Haley Hop headlined the Chargers defense with 27 digs, highlighting a total of seven UAH players with four scoops or more.
- Sabrina Duncan finished with a double-double as she registered 51 assists and 14 digs in the loss.
- Lorah Yonce joined both Duncan and Hop in double-figure digs with 11 scoops of her own.
 
Inside the Action
- Lee claimed victory in the first and second sets by recording 4-0 runs to close out both wins to lead 2-0.
- UAH took a close third 25-22 to slim the deficit to 2-1, followed by another 25-22 win in the fourth – ended on back-to-back block assists by Barnes and Jordan Grammer – to force a fifth and final stanza.
- With UAH leading 13-11, the Flames turned the tables with a 4-0 rally to pick up the five-set win over the Chargers.

- Duncan has three double-doubles with assists and digs in four GSC matches in 2018.
- Hop's totaled 20 or more digs on five occasions this season.
- Barnes' .433 hitting percentage is her highest in GSC play thus far this campaign.
