VALDOSTA, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team put forth a terrific road effort on Friday night, but Valdosta State sneaked past the Chargers with a 1-0 decision in overtime. The Chargers drop to 2-7-1 (1-4-0 GSC), while VSU improves to 6-3-0 (4-1-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-The game was an end-to-end affair in the game's opening minutes with the Chargers getting the first shot on goal in the fourth minutes, and after VSU had three attempts saved by
Megan Buford in the next four minutes, the Chargers would get two scoring chances from
Melanie Brannon and a pair of corners by the 12th.
-The guests would apply more pressure late in the first half, earning a corner in the 35th and two more in the 38th, and after those were all turned away by the Blazers, UAH would successfully defend three straight corners from the home side in the first half's waning moments.
-In the second half, UAH nearly got on the board in the 65th when
Kirsten Laplante's try caromed off the crossbar, but the Chargers would be on the opposite side of a similar situation in the 70th when VSU would hit the woodwork itself.
-In overtime, Valdosta State would earn one more corner, and on that play, Ashley Lewis put it into the net for the lone goal of the game in the 93rd minute.

-VSU built up a slim 18-14 advantage in shots in the game including an 8-6 margin in attempts on goal, but – indicative of UAH's strong effort going forward through the contest – the guests finished the night with a 9-6 edge in corners.

-UAH's nine corners in the game are the most by a Charger team since Sept. 28, 2014, when the team earned 10 against Delta State.
-The 14 shots for the Chargers are the most in a road game this season and the second-most in a conference game in 2018.
-Brannon has fired off a team-best 11 shots on goal for the year.
-Buford now owns 54 saves on the season.
