UAH Drops Thursday Meeting with UWA by Narrow 65-64 Score

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker on Thursday night, falling 65-64 to visiting West Alabama at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers slip to 12-5 (5-4 Gulf South Conference), while UWA improves to 11-5 (6-3 GSC).

Turning Point
-A LaJuan Hardy lay-up with 10.2 seconds left in the contest proved to be the deciding bucket in the game as UWA prevented the Chargers from getting a good look on the final possession of the contest.

Inside the Box Score
-Two Chargers scored in double figures in the game with Seth Swalve leading the way with 14 points, and he also matched team highs in both rebounds and assists with six and five, respectively.
-Dalton Barkley joined Swalve in double figures with 13.
-Matching Swalve's six rebounds was Tanner Finley, while Sam Orf equaled Swalve's six assists.
-For the game, the Chargers shot 49.0 percent compared to a 47.2 percent mark for the Tigers.
-UWA held a slim 32-29 edge in rebounding.
-The contest was a back-and-forth affair that featured 22 lead changes and 14 ties.

Inside the Flow
-There was practically no separation between the two teams through the first half with the largest lead of the stanza coming at the 2:19 mark when UWA went up 23-17, but the Chargers narrowed the deficit to three at 25-22 by the halftime break.
-The six-point margin would be matched by West Alabama at 50-44 with 9:28 left in the contest, but UAH's best stretch of the night followed, with the Chargers ripping off a 14-4 run to go up 58-54 with 3:17 left in the game following back-to-back dunks from Orf and Finley.
-The contest would then see the lead swap hands five times in the final three minutes before UWA was able to secure the win.

Noteworthy
-This was UAH's third contest of the year to be decided by fewer than five points, and the Chargers are 2-1 in those games now.
-Barkley has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the third time this season.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be off until next Thursday when the team travels to league-leading Delta State. Tip-off in Cleveland, Mississippi, is slated for 7:30 p.m.
