UAH Completes Series Sweep of Alaska Anchorage with 6-3 Victory Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team completed the sweep of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday afternoon at the Von Braun Center with a 6-3 victory to wrap up the two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series. UAH improves to 6-19-1 (6-11-1 WCHA), while UAA dips to 2-21-1 (1-16-1 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- The Seawolves opened up the contest with a 1-0 lead following the first period, but UAH turned in a four-goal second period on the way to the sweep-clinching 6-3 win on Saturday at the VBC.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- Alaska Anchorage took the first lead of the game at 11:11 of the opening period on a power-play goal by Eric Sinclair.
- UAH evened the contest at 3:10 of the second as Cam Knight knocked in a rebound off a Adam Wilcox shot from the blue line, but UAA responded 42 seconds later with a marker by Tanner Schachle to regain the lead at 2-1.
- The Chargers then put together a string of three unanswered goals to close out the second, including a power-play goal by Gosselin at 5:03 followed by shorthanded tallies by Hans Gorowsky and Kurt Gosselin at 10:26 and 19:44, respectively, to put UAH in front 4-2.
- The Seawolves struck first in the third period at 8:20 on a goal by Cam Amantea at 8:20 to cut the Chargers lead to 4-3.
- UAH went to score twice in the final 1:05 of the game with an empty-net goal by Gorowsky at the 18:55 mark, prior to Jesper Öhrvall scoring at 19:51 to bring the game to its 6-3 final.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Gosselin paced the Chargers offense with two goals and one assist for a team-high three points.
- Knight (1g-1a), Gorowsky (2g-0a) and Austin Beaulieu (0g-2a) rated tie for second on the roster with two points apiece.
- A total of 11 Chargers recorded at least one point.
- UAH turned in 29 shots on goal in the contest, led by Gosselin with seven shots saved.
- Knight finished second on the roster with six shots on goal.
- Gorowsky led the Chargers in the face-off circle with 14 wins on the night, going 14-for-21 in the win overall.

Noteworthy
- This is the first UAH sweep since Dec. 9-10, 2016 at Northern Michigan, and the first sweep at home for the Chargers since Jan. 16-17 against Northern Michigan.
- The Chargers 12 goals this season are the most by the program in a regular season series since Jan. 17-18, 2004.
- Gosselin's finishes the weekend set with six points on three goals and three assists.
- Gorowsky has matched his 2017-18 point total with 12 points through 26 games this season, as the senior is now first on the squad with 12 points on seven goals and five assists.
- Seven Chargers now have 10 points or more this season.

- UAH returns to action next Friday and Saturday night at the VBC as Alaska Fairbanks visits for a two-game series. Puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights.
