UAH Drops Series Opener to Alaska Fairbanks Friday Night

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team fell on Friday to Alaska Fairbanks by a final score of 3-1 at the Von Braun Center to open a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association Series. UAH dips to 6-20-1 (6-12-1 WCHA), while UAF rises to 7-16-2 (7-11-1 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- After UAH took a 1-0 lead into first intermission, Alaska Fairbanks had three unanswered tallies between the second and third period to give the visitors a 3-1 win on Friday night.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- The Chargers took the first lead of the game at the 8:16 mark of the first period when Bauer Neudecker backhanded a shot past UAF goalie Alex Martinsson for the early 1-0 advantage.
- Alaska Fairbanks evened the contest at 6:26 of the second period on a power-play tally by Kylar Hope, and the Nanooks went on to notch a 2-1 lead at the 10:02 mark of the middle period.
- The Nanooks brought the game to its final score of 3-1 with a goal by Max Newton at 9:02 of the third period.
