Moreno Scores Twice Including Overtime Penalty to Lift UAH to 2-1 Win

  HARROGATE, Tenn. | Rafa Moreno scored twice, including on a penalty in the 100th minute, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team picked up a thrilling 2-1 overtime win on the road at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday. The Chargers improve to 3-4-0 with the win, while LMU slips to 2-3-3.
 
Turning Points
-The game was a scoreless affair until the 40th minute when Gunner Potts assisted on Moreno's first goal of the game, lifting the Chargers to a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.
-The hosts then tied the contest early in the second half as Danilo Seglio scored in the 57th minute to make it 1-1.
-UAH threatened to win the contest in the final minute of regulation, firing off three shots including an Antonio Goncalves effort that rang off the post.
-The guests then dominated play in the overtime period, getting a pair of shots on target and earning two corners before being awarded the penalty in the final minute of the first overtime period, and Moreno stepped up to the spot and buried it to end the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UAH outshot the Railsplitters by a 14-10 margin while also owning an 8-4 edge in attempts that were on target.
-Moreno led the Chargers with six shots of which four were on goal.
-Drew Kelly made three stops in goal in earning the victory.
-UAH earned three corners compared to two for LMU.
-There were 20 fouls whistled, and the official issued two cautions.
 
Noteworthy
-Moreno now has a team-best four goals and nine points, scoring in three of the last four contests.
-The junior has now scored 18 goals over his two seasons with UAH, and his has scored in 16 of his 27 appearances over the two years.
-The redshirt sophomore Potts records his first collegiate point with the assist.
-Kelly has now picked up wins in two of his first three collegiate starts.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH will return to Charger Park, welcoming another non-conference opponent in Carson-Newman to the Rocket City on Tuesday. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m.
