West Georgia Slips by the Chargers on Friday Night

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell in a tightly-contested affair on Friday night, dropping a 2-1 decision to visiting West Georgia at Charger Park. The Chargers slip to 2-5-1 (0-3-1 Gulf South Conference), while the Wolves improve to 4-3-1 (2-1-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-West Georgia opened the scoring early as Sadie Prince scored in the 13th minute to make it 1-0, and that score line would hold through the halftime break.
-The Chargers leveled the contest in the 67th minute when Peggy Mathis had her original shot saved by the UWG keeper, but Brynn Colvin was there to bury the rebound and tie the game at 1-1.
-Less than seven minutes in the 74th, the Wolves would have a flurry of rapid chances, and Alyssa Turner scored what proved to be the game-winner when she headed it in to create the 2-1 final.

Inside the Box Score
-UAH outshot the Wolves by a 15-11 margin, though UWG had a slim 7-6 advantage in attempts that were on target.
-Amanda Elsey fired off a team-high three shots for the Chargers, while each of Colvin, Melanie Brannon, Devyn Thompson, and Laura Hasani had a pair of attempts including Thompson's team-best two that were on goal.
-Adriana Wright registered five stops in goal while taking the setback for UAH.
-The Chargers earned four corners in the contest, while UWG picked up three.

Noteworthy
-Colvin increases her team lead in goals with her ninth of the season, and she now has registered 24 points for the year.

-The assist for Mathis is the first of the freshman's career.
-Wright now has at least five saves in each of her past three outings.
