UAH Falls Narrowly to Valdosta State on Sunday

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team fell by a 2-1 score to visiting Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH slips to 2-6-1 (0-4-0 Gulf South Conference), while VSU improves to 4-4-0 (2-2-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-The game was scoreless through the first half, but Lauren Hicks put the visiting Blazers ahead 1-0 when she scored in the 49th minute.
-The Chargers would knot the contest up eight minutes later in the 57th when Brynn Colvin scored to make it 1-1.
-Hicks, however, would score again in the 68th to give VSU the lead for good, creating the eventual 2-1 final.

Inside the Box Score
-Valdosta State owned a 20-9 edge in shots including a 14-4 margin in attempts that were on goal.
-Corners though were even at four for each side.
-Peggy Mathis and Rachel Collins both led the Chargers with a pair of shots.
-Adriana Wright was impressive in goal for the Chargers, registering 12 saves to keep UAH in the game.
-There were only 11 fouls whistled in the game, and there were no bookings.

Noteworthy

Next Time Out
-The Chargers will be off until Friday when the team continues GSC play back on the road at Auburn Montgomery. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m.
