UAH Knocks Off Shorter 2-1 on the Road Friday

ROME, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team picked up a key road win on Friday night, pushing past host Shorter 2-1 in a game played in frigid conditions. UAH improves to 6-7-2 (4-3-2 Gulf South Conference), while the Hawks fall to 6-8-2 (2-6-2 GSC).
 
Turning Points
-The Chargers wasted no time taking the lead as Steven Gallagher scored in the 6th minute of the contest to put UAH up 1-0.
-UAH doubled its advantage in the 29th minute when Gallagher assisted on Rafa Moreno's goal to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead.
-Just three minutes later in the 32nd, Felix Guijosa would score to make it a 2-1 game, but neither team would tally another to give the contest to UAH.
 
Inside the Box Score
-The Hawks outshot the Chargers by a 9-8 margin, but UAH held a 6-4 edge in attempts that were on target.
-Corners were even in the game at three for each side.
-Gallagher paced the team with a pair of shots, and both of his efforts were on target.
-Drew Kelly made three stops in goal for the Chargers in earning the win.
-There were a total of 23 fouls in the contest, and the referee went to his book three times including sending off a Shorter player in the 63rd minute.
 
Noteworthy
-Gallagher's goal is his second of the season with both coming in the past three games, and his assist is his first of the season to give him five points on the year.
-Moreno increases his goal total on the year to seven which remains on top of the UAH ledger, and he is now tied for fourth in the GSC in scoring.
-On the season, Kelly now has four victories and has made 24 saves.
-This is UAH's fourth road win.

-The Chargers will square off against Lee on Sunday in Cleveland, Tennessee. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
