MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Turning in one of the best performances of the season at a most ideal time, the No. 7 seed University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 Gulf South Conference Championship with a 3-0 win on the road at second-seeded Auburn Montgomery. The Chargers improve to 7-8-3 with the win, while AUM ends the year at 9-6-3.

This will mark UAH's third straight appearance in the tournament semifinals.

UAH dominated the contest on Tuesday, and that led to an early goal as
Vicente Arratia scored an absolute stunner in the 23rd minute to lift the Chargers in front, and he would factor in the team's second goal just before the half as he assisted on
Michael Weston's strike in the 42nd to give the guests a 2-0 lead at the break.

After outshooting the Warhawks 7-3 in the first 45 minutes, the Chargers would rack up 10 attempts to five for AUM in the second half, and
Andres Rodriguez would seal the contest in the 74th off an assist from
Antonio Goncalves.

Simon Voss then made a pair of stops in the final 17 seconds of the contest to secure the clean sheet.

The goal for Arratia is second of the season and his assist is his fourth to move him into third on the team in points with eight, and the goal for Weston is his third of the year.

Rodriguez notches his first score of the season, while the assist for Goncalves is his second of the year.

For the contest, UAH outshot AUM by a 17-8 margin including a significant 7-2 edge in shots on target, while the Warhawks earned three corners to just one for the Chargers.

UAH will play the winner of No. 3 seed West Florida and sixth-seeded Spring Hill who are playing Tuesday evening, and the time of the semifinal contest will be determined following the conclusion of all of the quarterfinal matches.
