HUNTSVILLE | Bouncing back from a tough swing through the Deep South, the No. 12 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team picked up a strong 75-53 win over visiting Union on Friday evening at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers improve to 9-2 (3-2 Gulf South Conference), while the Bulldogs fall to 9-4 (3-2 GSC).

Turning Point
-After surrendering the game's first basket, the Chargers opened up an 11-point advantage less than six minutes into the game on their way to not trailing the rest of the way.Â

Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers were led on the night by
Sam Orf who scored 24 points thanks to a strong 9-for-13 showing from the floor which included a 6-for-10 performance from beyond the arc, and the preseason all-GSC selection also grabbed four rebounds and handed out two assists.
-Three other Chargers scored in double figures including
Max Shulman who knocked down three 3-points to score 11, and that 11-point output was matched by
JJ Kaplan who also finished the game with a team-high nine rebounds.

Malik Cook-Stroupe rounded out UAH's double-figures contingent with 10 to go along with two boards, two assists, and two steals.
-Cooper Meadows paced Union with 12 points.
-For the contest, UAH shot 45.3 percent with 14 made 3-pointers, and the home team's defensive effort held UU to a shooting mark of just 34.0 percent.
-The Chargers also won the rebounding battle by a 37-34 margin.
-UAH committed just six turnovers while racking up 16 assists.
-The Chargers dominated the inside game, outscoring the visitors in the paint by a 30-14 margin.

-After falling behind 3-0 when Union scored on its second possession, the Chargers would score the next six on their way to going up 11 when
Dalton Barkley hit a triple at the 14:22 mark to put UAH ahead 17-6.
-The Bulldogs would briefly narrow the gap to single digits at 19-10 with 11:46 remaining in the half, but that would be the smallest deficit the rest of the night as UAH led by as many as 19 before taking a 40-23 lead into the locker room.
-The lead ballooned to as many as 22 in the second half, and UAH's defensive effort would allow the guests to pull no closer than 14 in the final 20 minutes on its way to securing the big win.
