UAH Stumbles in Thursday Matchup Against Montevallo

Box Score HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell to visiting Montevallo by a final score of 59-54 on Thursday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in a Gulf South Conference tilt. UAH slips to 12-12 (10-8 GSC), while UM improves to 13-14 (9-10 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-A pair of successful free throws by Holly Harris with 6:58 left to go tied the game at 41-41, but Montevallo closed out the contest on an 18-13 run to take the GSC matchup by a 59-54 final
 
Inside the Box Score
-A trio of Chargers scored in double-digits in the setback on Thursday, with Bayle Johnson's 12 leading the way, and she was joined by Harris who scored 11 and Sanders who chipped in with 10.
-UAH grabbed a total of 29 rebounds on the night, paced by Harris and Morgan Tipton with five boards apiece.
-The Chargers generated 11 steals in the contest, as Sanders notched a team-high four steals followed by Emiline Payne with three.
-Both Johnson and Payne chipped in three assists in the contest to share the roster lead.
-Heidi Miller, Harris and Payne each contributed a block on the defensive end.
-UAH connected on 32.1 percent of its attempts on the night, while the Falcons shot 44.0 percent.
 
Inside the Flow
-The first quarter was tightly contested with the game tied 10-10 with less than 90 seconds remaining in the frame, as Montevallo gained a three-point edge outscoring UAH the remainder of the period 5-2 for a 15-12 lead.
-The Falcons gained two points to their lead with a 12-10 edge in the second quarter for a 27-22 advantage at the half.
-UAH outscored Montevallo 14-12 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 39-34 entering the fourth, as the Chargers went 5-of-11 from the floor in the frame while limiting the Falcons to a 5-of-16 mark on field goals.
-The contest was evened at 41-41 with 6:58 remaining in the fourth quarter, with UM earning the 59-54 win on an 18-13 run to close out the stanza.
 
Noteworthy
-Sanders has contributed four steals in a game three times this season, as she owns a team-best and career-high 41 steals on the season.
-The Chargers 11 steals on the night are the most by the team in the GSC slate in 2018-19.
