UAH Falls in Series Finale at Ferris State on Saturday

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team wrapped up the two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series at Ferris State with a 5-2 loss on Saturday night at Ewigleben Arena. UAH dips to 7-25-2 (7-17-2 WCHA), while FSU rises to 9-22-2 (6-17-2 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
- Ferris State scored three unanswered goals in the second period to lift the Bulldogs to a 5-2 victory over the Chargers on Saturday night.
 
Scoring Breakdown
- UAH took the first lead at the 12:25 mark of the first period on Hans Gorowsky's 11th goal of the season, thanks to an assist by Austin Beaulieu.
- The Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead in the second period with a total of three unanswered goals in the frame by Lucas Finner at 6:54, Craig Pefley at 14:05 and Cooper Zech at 17:55.
- The Chargers cut the deficit to 4-2 at the 29 second-mark of the third period as Christian Rajic tipped in a shot from Connor James from the point on a power play for his third goal of the season. Drew Lennon was also credited with an assist on the tally.
- Ferris State went on to put two more goals in the net in the period, including a power-play goal by Nate Kallen at 4:12 and an empty-net tally by Pefley at 19:08.
 
Inside the Box Score
- UAH turned in a total of 20 shots on goal on the night, paced by Gorowsky and Connor Merkley with four shots on goal apiece.
- Andrew Dodson, Kurt Gosselin, and James each rated second on the roster with two shots on goal.
- Mark Sinclair took the loss in goal, totaling four goals allowed and 29 saves against the Bulldogs. Sinclair posted a game-high 16 saves in the first period.
- UAH went 1-for-3 on the power play, while limiting FSU to one goal in four power-play chances.
