CARROLLTON, Ga. | The No. 14 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team split with host West Georgia on Saturday afternoon, winning 10-3 in the nightcap of the doubleheader to bounce back from the opening 2-1 loss earlier in the day. UAH moves to 21-7 (9-2 Gulf South Conference) with the split, while UWG goes to 17-15 (5-10 GSC).

-A Raven Smith single in the bottom of the sixth inning pushed across the go-ahead run to eventually give the Wolves the victory.

-Neither team was able to get much going offensively with UWG recording five hits to UAH's four.

-Neither team was able to get a runner past first base until the bottom of the third when a two-out walk turned into a run for the Wolves, and the score remained tilted in UWG's favor until the top of the fifth when Cornell homered on a 3-2 pitch to lead off the inning and tie it at 1-1.
-UWG appeared to have the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth, but an appeal by the Chargers worked as it was determined the runner had not touched home.
-Smith then singled in the run in the bottom of the sixth with two outs to push the hosts in front 2-1, and UWG turned a double play to end the game in the top of the seventh.

-The home run for Cornell is her third of the season.
-The multi-hit game is the first for Nutt since Feb. 16 against Southern Wesleyan.
