HUNTSVILLE | The No. 10 University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team picked up its fifth straight conference series win in dramatic fashion, scoring five times in the bottom of the sixth to seal a come-from-behind 9-7 win over visiting No. 13 Valdosta State. The Chargers improve to 26-8 (12-3 Gulf South Conference), while VSU slips to 20-9 (7-7 GSC).

Turning Point
-UAH sent nine to the plate in the home half of the sixth with
Jada Hayes providing the knockout blow with a two-out double that scored
Shelby Booker, putting the Chargers in front for the first time in the contest.

Key Plays
-The Blazers jumped ahead early, scoring once in the first and twice in the second to go up 3-0, but Nutt would score on an error and Malone would plate
Amber Hammonds on a sac fly in the bottom of the second to pull UAH within two at 3-2.
-Valdosta State, however, would score three more runs in the top of the third to go ahead 6-2 before Akles hit her solo shot in the bottom frame to make it a three-run game at 6-3.
-The game then went scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Cornell homered down the left field line to pull UAH briefly within two at 6-4 before VSU homered itself in the top of the sixth to put the Blazers ahead 7-4.
-The sixth-inning dramatics for UAH started with Hammonds a leadoff walk, allowing her to score when Hampton doubled to right center, and Hampton would come around to score later in the inning on Malone's base hit to left to pull UAH within one at 7-6.
-With Booker at first and
Shannon Long at third with one out, Akles proceeded to tie the game with a sac fly, and after Booker picked up a key steal of second, Hayes doubled into left to score the go-ahead run.
-Cornell then put the Chargers ahead 9-7 with a single to left to drive in Hayes.

Layton Murphy got the first out of the top of the seventh, and then Uhlman entered the game, inducing a ground ball out for the second and getting the VSU leadoff hitter to strike out swinging to end the contest.

-The go-ahead RBI for Hayes is her team-best 36th of the season and it comes on her team-high 11th double of the year.
-Cornell logs her fifth home run of the season which is tied for second on the team, while Akles logs her third.
-Booker has scored now 38 times to lead the Chargers, and she remains perfect at 33-for-33 in stolen base attempts.
-Jacobs moves to 2-0 in the circle, while Uhlman records her seventh save of the year and her second in as many days.
