YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team embarks on the postseason as the second seed at the 2019 Gulf South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championships beginning with a Friday matchup at 6 p.m. against third-seeded Montevallo on the Young Harris campus.

The Chargers reached the GSC invitational for the fourth straight season as the squad boasted a 14-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference play which was good for second in the league standings.

Last season, UAH faced off against Young Harris in the GSC invitational final for the third year in a row, with the Mountain Lions taking the contest by a score of 20-6.

The Chargers offense – which scored a league-high 264 goals in the regular season – is paced by GSC Co-Player of the Year
Nicole Federovitch who owns a GSC-best 106 points on 62 goals and 44 assists in her senior campaign.

Defensively, UAH is led by
Natalie Pachinger who earned GSC Defensive Player of the Year with a conference-high 64 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers.
Leslie Allen Brown has also been a major part of the Chargers defense with a league-best .472 save percentage and 7.41 goals against average.

Montevallo finished the season with a 6-9 overall record and 5-3 mark in conference play, as the Falcons earned a trip to the GSC invitational for the fourth time as well. The Falcons offense is paced by Janey Johnson with a team-high 44 points on seven goals and 37 assists, while Irfana Ahmed has played the majority of time in goal for a 14.28 goals against average and a .460 save percentage.

The winner of Friday evening's matchup between UAH and Montevallo looks ahead to the GSC invitational final on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT on YHC's campus.
