LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team opened a three-game Gulf South Conference series at West Alabama with a 3-1 win in 10 innings on Friday evening. UAH improves to 21-13 (11-7 GSC), while UWA dips to 19-12 (7-10 GSC).

- With both teams were knotted at 1-1 after nine innings, UAH took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the top of the ninth on RBI base hits by
Will Acuff and
Drake Hollingsworth which helped the Chargers to the series-opening win.

Tyler Self was masterful on the mound in his ninth start of the season, working 8.2 innings with one run allowed – unearned – in addition to zero walks and seven strikeouts. Self was handed a no-decision for his performance.

Brooks Brophy earned the win in relief to improve to 4-2 on the season, working the final 1.1 innings with one hit allowed.
- UAH totaled eight hits in the series-opener, led by senior
Nolan Ramsey who went 3-for-4 with one run scored.

- West Alabama took the first lead in the bottom of the sixth with one run, but the Chargers responded with one run of their own in the top of the seventh to knot the game at 1-1.
- UAH took a 3-1 lead in extra innings with two runs in the top of the 10th on an RBI double to right-center by Acuff followed by an RBI single through the left side by Hollingsworth.
- The Tigers boarded a pair in the bottom of the 10th, but Brophy worked a scoreless frame to finish off the 3-1 victory.
