Jimmy Mitchell announced his resignation from the University on Tuesday.

"We are grateful for Coach Mitchell and all he has done for the UAH women's soccer program and UAH athletics overall, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," Interim Director of Athletics
Dr. Cade Smith said.

"We are sad to see him move on, but we are excited for the upcoming season and the future of the UAH women's soccer program."

Mitchell has been at the helm of the UAH women's soccer program since the 2012 campaign, as his career spans 26 seasons across four different programs for a career record of 249-240-32 as a head coach.

In his time in Huntsville, Mitchell guided 12 all-region honorees, 14 All-Gulf South Conference selections, four CoSIDA Academic All-District performers, two GSC Freshman of the Year awardees, and a total of 103 GSC Honor Roll recipients while helping the squad reach the GSC tournament semifinals in both 2012 and 2013.

Prior to arriving at UAH, Mitchell spent the previous 13 seasons at Division I member Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana, where he compiled a 131-112-20 record, and the 131 wins marked a career Southland Conference record. Mitchell has additionally been the head coach for programs at Gardner-Webb and Belmont Abbey.

An interim head coach will be named in the near future.
