CLEVELAND, Miss. | A penalty kick in the 89th minute lifted host Delta State to a 2-1 victory over The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's soccer team on Friday afternoon in the Gulf South Conference opener for UAH. The Chargers slip to 2-3-1(0-1-0 GSC), while DSU improves to 1-1-3 (1-0-0 GSC).

Turning Points
-The scoring started when Delta State got on the board with a 36th minute strike from Erin Longsden, and the score would remain that way through the halftime break.
-DSU had a chance to double its lead in the 61st minute when awarded a PK, but freshman keeper
Adriana Wright stopped the effort to keep UAH's deficit at just one.

Melanie Brannon leveled the contest at 1-1 in the 89th minute, but DSU would get another attempt from the spot just 33 seconds later with Tasha Toms converting for the later winner.
