HUNTSVILLE | The 19th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team opened up the 2020 calendar year with another home win, grinding out a 76-64 victory over visiting Tennessee Wesleyan. The Chargers improve to 11-2, while the Bulldogs slip to 5-8.

Max Shulman scored 24 to pace the Chargers thanks in part to knocking down six shots from beyond the arc, and the redshirt sophomore nearly logged a double-double as he matched
JJ Kaplan for a team-high with nine rebounds.

-The game was back-and-forth with 10 lead changes in the first eight minutes before the Bulldogs opened up a 27-22 advantage with 7:51 left in the opening half.
-The Chargers would claw back, however, taking a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.
-A triple for the guests put TWU back in front to start the second stanza, but an 11-3 run that featured three Shulman 3-pointers pushed the Chargers ahead 45-38 at the 15:58 mark of the period.
-One more strong push from the Bulldogs allowed them to surge in front at 48-47 with 13:51 remaining, but UAH scored the next 12 straight with a Chambers 3-pointer giving the hosts a double-digit lead for the first time at 59-48 with just under 11 minutes left.
-Tennessee Wesleyan would pull within three but ultimately could not narrow the gap any smaller with UAH holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the final 3:30 of the game to secure the win.

-Shulman establishes a new career high with the 24 points, surpassing the 22 he scored against AUM on Nov. 25, and he matches his career best with the six 3-pointers.
-Chambers matches his UAH high with the 19 points, equaling his total from the season opener, and the five 3-pointers are the most in a game this season for the redshirt junior.
-UAH extends it home winning streak to 12 victories dating back to last season.
