UAH Garners Seven GSC All-Academic Honorees and 74 GSC Honor Roll Recipient

1/27/2020 1:00:00 PM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its 2019 Fall All-Academic Teams and the Fall GSC Honor Roll on Monday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by seven GSC All-Academic honorees and 74 GSC Honor Roll recipients.

UAH has boasted 70 or more student-athletes on the GSC Fall Honor Roll for three consecutive years, while the seven GSC All-Academic performers are the most since 2013.

Three Chargers earned the distinction in back-to-back years, including Isabelle Barnes from volleyball, Auburn Cohan from women's cross country, and Ethan Wilson from men's soccer.

UAH's men's cross country team featured a total of three GSC All-Academic performers in Jay Day, Alex Herbst and Harold Lacroix, which were the most by any of the Chargers teams in 2019.

Also garnering GSC All-Academic honors on Monday include Abby Brook (volleyball), Rafa Moreno (men's soccer) and Kaylee Stewart (women's cross country).

GSC All-Academic Team members must have an overall grade point average of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester transfers.

The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken in the voting process.

Inclusion on the GSC Academic Honor Roll requires an overall GPA of 3.00 or better.
