CLINTON, Miss. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team opened the 2020-21 campaign on the road on Friday night, dropping a 72-48 decision to host Mississippi College. The Chargers start the year at 0-0 (0-0 Gulf South Conference), while MC begins at 1-0 (1-0 GSC).
Turning Point
-After UAH claimed a 33-31 lead early in the third quarter, the hosts would outscore the Chargers by a 41-15 margin the rest of the game to pick up the victory.
Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers were led offensively on the night by
Holly Harris who was 4-for-8 from the floor including a pair of 3-pointers on her way to scoring 16 points, and she also picked up a team-high five steals to go along with four boards while only turning it over once.
-Joining Harris in double figures was
Alexis Woods who had 12 while logging a team-best seven rebounds and also pacing the Chargers with three assists.
-MC had four score in double figures led by Jamara Levy's 16.
-UAH connected on 29.8 percent of its attempts on the night while the Choctaws shot 48.9 percent overall and was 20-of-24 from the charity stripe.
-The hosts won the rebounding battle by a 43-27 margin.
-MC's reserves scored 23 on the night compared to 12 bench points for the guests.
Inside the Flow
-MC capitalized on a slow shooting start for the Chargers, outshooting the Blue and White by a 46.7 percent to 26.7 percent clip in the opening 10 minutes to take a 17-10 lead after the first.
-Narrowing the gap to 28-25 by the halftime break, UAH outscored the Choctaws 15-11 in the second period, limiting the hosts to just seven shot attempts in the quarter.
-After MC got the first bucket of the third quarter, the Chargers would go 4-for-6 from the floor with Woods scoring six of UAH's eight points over a 2:30 span that saw UAH slide in front 33-31 at the 6:21 mark of the third quarter, but the hosts held the Chargers to just one more basket while going 5-for-5 to take a 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
-The Choctaws then outscored UAH 23-12, limiting the Chargers to a 3-for-14 shooting performance in the final stanza to seal the contest.

-Harris starts her junior campaign with a double-figure scoring performance after reaching double digits in 21 games a year ago.
