No. 21 UAH Drops Home Contest to West Alabama

HUNTSVILLE | The No. 21 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team dropped a 75-54 decision to visiting West Alabama on Thursday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers slip to 17-5 (9-5 Gulf South Conference), while UWA improves to 17-5 (10-4 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-West Alabama opened the second half on a 16-5 run over the first 11 minutes of the period to take firm control of the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Henley Edge led the Chargers in scoring, scoring 10 points in six minutes off the bench as he went 3-for-4 from the field.
-Three Chargers paced the team with four rebounds each including Malik Cook-Stroupe, Sam Orf, and JJ Kaplan.
-Kaplan turned in a team-high three assists for UAH.
-For the contest, UWA outshot the Chargers by a 58.0 percent to 37.3 percent clip, though UAH did go 10-for-21 from 3-point land.
-UWA won the rebounding battle by a 32-22 margin.
 
Inside the Flow
-West Alabama never trailed in the contest, scoring the game's first five points before building up an 18-8 lead by the 12:03 mark of the opening half.
-The Tigers would hold as much as a 13-point lead in the period, but UAH would narrow the gap to as few as three before going into the locker room trailing 38-32.
-After the strong defensive start to the second half for West Alabama, the guests would parlay that into as much as a 23-point lead in the period before the contest ended with the 75-54 final.
 
Noteworthy
-The 10 points for Edge mark a career-best for the redshirt sophomore.
-This is UAH's first loss when making 10 3-pointers this season as the team is now 10-1 in those contests.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH will look to bounce back on Saturday when rival Montevallo visits. Tip-off at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall is scheduled for 4 p.m.
