HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville softball team made it a series sweep of visiting West Alabama on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-4 over the Tigers to complete its second conference sweep of the year. The Chargers move to 12-6 (7-2 Gulf South Conference) with the win, while the Tigers fall to 5-13 (2-7 GSC).

-The Chargers put a four-spot up on the board in the bottom of the first, giving the home team a commanding lead that it would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Key Plays
-After Akles started the game with a perfect 1-2-3 inning, UAH would send seven to the plate in the bottom half of the inning with Cornell singling in a run before she scored on Nutt's double, and the Chargers would go up 4-0 when Long hit a low line drive over the fence in straightaway center for a two-run homer.
-West Alabama would answer with a pair of runs in the top of the second, but Booker would double in Young in the home half to give UAH a three-run lead at 5-2.
-UWA would tack on a run in the third, but the game would remain 5-3 until the top of the sixth when the guests added another run to pull within one at 5-4.
-Providing her team with an insurance run, Vaught hit a no-doubter down the line in left in the bottom of the sixth to produce what would be the eventual 6-4 final as Murphy retired the Tigers in order in the seventh.

-Long's third homer of the year and the two RBI put her at the top of UAH's offense with 17 runs driven in.
-Vaught matches Akles with a team-best five home runs, and she is tied for second on the team with 16 RBI.
-Jacobs is now 4-1 on the season with a 2.90 ERA, and Murphy earns her first save of the year.

-Tuesday's scheduled doubleheader against North Georgia has been postponed due to anticipated heavy rains, and so the Chargers will be back at Charger Park on Saturday when they start a three-game set with Christian Brothers. First pitch on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
