UAH Picks Up Big 20-6 Win at Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tennessee | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team rolled past host Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday afternoon, winning 20-6 to improve to 3-2 on the year. TWU slips to 2-3.
 
Turning Point
-The Chargers scored the game's first five goals en route to cruising to the victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Brody Phillips led the Chargers in the contest as he logged six points from three goals and three assists, while Luke LeVette also scored three times and added two assists to notch five points.
-Each of Kevin Coppinger, Josh Campbell, and Joseph Stuber scored twice and had an assist to notch three points in the contest.
-James Cox and Mattie D'Amico tallied twice, and Emory Weaver matched them with a pair of points as he dished out two assists.
-Four Chargers – Joshua Hardin, Jacob Glen, Devon Roberts, and Ian Hall – had a goal, while each of Jack Utrevis, Jax Looby, and Trevor Redmond logged an assist.
-Campbell, Redmond, and Owen House all paced the Chargers with four ground balls.
-House was also 17-of-28 in faceoffs.
-UAH utilized three goalies with Zak Welsh earning the win and making five stops, while Kyle Siersma stopped a pair and James Arneson logged one save.
-The Chargers outshot the hosts by a 53-26 margin including a wide 32-14 difference in shots on goal.
-UAH was 21-for-26 in clears compared to a 22-for-28 showing from the Bulldogs.
-The Chargers held a 43-33 advantage in ground balls.
 
Inside the Flow
-UAH outscored the hosts 3-0 in the first quarter, and both Phillips and LeVette got their second goals of the game to start the second to make it a 5-0 UAH lead.
-A pair of TWU goals made it a 5-2 game at the 9:04 mark of the quarter, but UAH scored six straight to end the period with an 11-2 advantage.
-D'Amico, LeVette, and Cox scored the first three of the third to make it a 14-2 lead for the Chargers before the Bulldogs nabbed a pair, and Hardin's score at the 1:39 mark of the stanza created a 15-4 advantage for the Chargers going into the fourth.
-UAH then outscored the Bulldogs by a 5-2 margin in the fourth to produce the 20-6 final.
 
Noteworthy
-LeVette leads the team in goals with 13, is tied for the team lead in assists with four, and leads the team with 17 points.
-The six points for Phillips represents a career high for the sophomore.
-Both Coppinger (11) and Campbell (10) move into double figures in points on the season.
-Campbell and Welsh are now tied for the team lead in ground balls with 12.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH will be in action on Thursday, March 12, when Quincy visits for a GLVC contest. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start at Charger Park.
