ORLANDO, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team opened up play at the 2021 Gulf South Conference-Sunshine State Conference Crossover with a 3-0 victory (28-26, 25-19, 25-22) over Embry-Riddle in nonconference action. UAH improves to 14-6 overall, while ERAU slips to 16-4.

The Chargers offense boasted four players with seven kills or more in the three-set victory on Friday afternoon, led by
Kendall Scharbert with a team-high nine kills and .421 hitting percentage. Scharbert additionally led the defense with five total blocks in the match.

UAH was also efficient in the match with a .262 team hitting percentage, while limiting ERAU to a .101 swing rate.

Molly Presnell had a strong overall performance for the Chargers, as she ranked second on the team with eight kills and 11 digs to go along with two total blocks.

Paris Morris and
Zharia Hubbard had seven kills apiece against Embry-Riddle, with Hubbard posting a .400 hitting percentage to rank second on the day.

Sabrina Duncan nearly achieved a double-double on Friday with a team-high 32 assists in addition to nine digs.

UAH's defensive effort also saw several contributors with five players accruing eight digs or more, led by
Shayla Libby with a team-best 12Â scoops.

The opening set went down to the wire between UAH and Embry-Riddle until the Chargers notched three straight points to take the first 28-26.

UAH started off the second set on a 9-1 run, which the squad would ride that advantage to a 25-19 win in the frame. The Chargers capped off the three-set victory with a 25-22 win in the third, thanks to a late six-point rally.

The Chargers are back in action with two matches tomorrow at the GSC-SSC Crossover, beginning at 11:15 a.m. against Eckerd. UAH will also take on Tampa at 6 p.m.
