HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team defeated Valdosta State by a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 17-7 (9-2 GSC), while VSU dips to 11-16 (4-7 GSC).

The Chargers have officially clinched a spot in the upcoming 2021 Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championships from Nov. 19-21. The GSC regular season champion will earn the right to host the entirety of the tournament.

Junior
Molly Presnell had a strong all-around performance for the Chargers, posting a team-high eight kills and .348 hitting percentage to go along with nine digs and three total blocks.

Sabrina Duncan nearly achieved a double-double against the Blazers with a roster-best 24 assists in addition to nine digs to tie with Presnell for second on the roster defensively.

Shayla Libby helped guide the Chargers defense on Saturday with a team-leading 12 digs as well as
Zharia Hubbard with a roster-high six total blocks.

Both Libby and Duncan have now eclipsed 1000 digs in their career, as Libby now has 1012 career digs and Duncan has 1011 career digs.

The Chargers pulled ahead with the score tied 15-15 in the first set as the squad outpaced the Blazers 10-2 to wrap up the frame with a 25-17 win.

UAH came from behind to win the second set 25-21 for a 2-0 lead over VSU, before the Chargers cruised to a 25-13 win in the third to seal the match victory.

The Chargers look ahead to a matchup at Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to continue GSC play.
