HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team wrapped up the 2021 regular season with a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-14, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 21-8 (12-3 GSC), while UWA dips to 1-23 (1-14 GSC).
 
The Chargers look ahead to the 2021 Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championships as the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, which will be held at No. 1 seed West Florida from Nov. 19-21. As the second seed, UAH has received a bye to the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 20.
 
UAH volleyball celebrated its 2021 Senior Class prior to Saturday's match, which included 
Sabrina Duncan, 
Hannah Lawless, 
Kendall Scharbert and 
Katie Sharp.
 
Scharbert guided the Chargers offense on Senior Day with a team-high 16 kills and .516 hitting percentage as she also posted a roster-best six total blocks defensively.
 
Molly Presnell finished second to Scharbert with eight kills, followed by Lawless and 
Paris Morris with seven apiece. Lawless boasted a .500 hitting percentage to rank second on the roster.
 
Presnell additionally rated second on the team with 13 digs, as 
Shayla Libby led the way with the defense with 17 scoops in the three-set victory.
 
Duncan helped guide the offense with a team-high 36 assists as she nearly achieved a double-double with eight digs in the win. She helped the Chargers hit .292 for the match, while holding UWA to a .170 swing rate overall.
 
UAH turned on the jets late in the first set to win 25-21 as West Alabama cut the Chargers advantage at 21-20 late in the frame. The Chargers registered five rallies of three points or more in a 25-14 win in the second to take a 2-0 match lead, before UAH sealed the three-set victory with another 25-14 win in the third.
