Chargers Open the Week With Visit From West Georgia

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team returns to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Monday night when the squad takes on the University of West Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. UAH enters the contest at 1-6 (0-2 GSC), while West Georgia brings a 2-4 (0-2 GSC) record.

Leading the Chargers last weekend was Selena Pruitt who averaged 13.5 points to go along with 6.0 rebounds per game and Alexis Woods who put up 13 points against Delta State in 25 minutes of work.

Miajah Bullock was an efficient 10-for-10 from the free throw line for the Blue and White in the pair of contests with eight of those 10 made free throws coming against Mississippi College.

The Chargers started GSC play on the road, falling in a one-possession game that came down to a last-second field goal for a 54-52 final at Delta State before Mississippi College took the next game for a 83-44 win over the Chargers.

UAH will host a UWG squad that fell 54-44 against West Florida before getting tripped up on the road by Valdosta State 63-37 on Saturday Dec. 4.

Ranajah Verdell was the Wolves main contributor over the two losses, averaging 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game after picking up five boards in the defeat to Valdosta State. 

Monday night will mark the 59th meeting between UAH and West Georgia with the series tilted in the Wolves favor by a 32-26 margin.

The Chargers hold a 12-14 record when the series has come to Huntsville.

Following Monday's contest, UAH will head to Troy, Ala. on Wednesday for an exhibition contest with Troy University before getting back to conference play at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. on Saturday afternoon.
