Box Score CLEVELAND, Tennessee. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fought hard in their last game before the holiday break on Saturday afternoon, but would see Lee pick up the victory by a 73-45 score. UAH drops to 1-8 (0-4 GSC), while the Flames improve to 10-2 (3-2 GSC).
Using their explosiveness, Miajah Bullock and Selena Pruitt were the Chargers in double figures with Bullock posting 11 points and Pruitt posting 10 in the contest. Bullock was also UAH's top contributor in the rebounding column with six boards.
The Chargers would capitalize on their trips to the free-throw line over the first half, going 8-for-9 from the charity stripe, however the end of the first quarter saw the Flames holding a 22-15 advantage over UAHÂ and the hosts would go on to extend their lead to 12 for a 38-26 halftime lead.
UAH was held to a 30.8 percent shooting performance in the third quarter while Lee would shoot at a 63.6 percent clip to go up 56-35 for a 21 point difference at the close of the third stanza which would prove to be the pivotal quarter in the affair. The Flames would go on to secure the 73-45 victory after out-scoring the visitors 17-10 in the last period of play.Â
For the contest, UAH hit 84.6 percent of its attempts from the free-throw line going 11-for-13, and were able to force 19 Lee turnovers. The Flames won the rebounding battle by a 46-28 margin and were able to hand out 22 assists opposed to the Chargers six.
Hannah Garrett led Lee with 17 points and 5 rebounds, while Haley Schubert and Anna Muhonen also scored double figures.
UAH will now look to get back to action after the holiday break as they return home to Spragins Hall, playing host to Valdosta State for an afternoon contest on New Year's Eve.
