PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team made the program's seventh NCAA tournament on Thursday afternoon at the 2021 NCAA South Region Championships, as the sixth-seeded Chargers fell to third-seeded Nova Southeastern by a score of 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, 16-25). UAH ends the 2021 season at 21-10, while NSU improves to 25-5.
 
Junior 
Molly Presnell led the Chargers in the NCAA tournament matchup with Nova Southeastern with a team-high 10 kills, .333 hitting percentage and six digs.
 
Senior 
Sabrina Duncan also had a strong all-around performance with a team-leading 22 assists and six digs to go along with three kills.
 
The Chargers offense featured six players with three kills or more, while four of UAH's players notched four digs or more.
 
UAH started off strong in the first set holding a five-point advantage at 17-12 to force a Nova Southeastern timeout, but the Sharks fought back to win the opening frame 25-22.
 
The Chargers made a late push to cut the Sharks lead to 23-22 in the second stanza prior to NSU scoring back-to-back points for the 25-22 win to extend its match lead to 2-0. Nova Southeastern went on to take the third 25-16 to seal the three-set win for the Sharks.
 
Nova Southeastern will now advance to play the winner of second-seeded Tampa and seventh-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday.
 
The Chargers have won 20 or more games in four consecutive fall seasons, which is the first time the program has achieved the feat since a string of 12 straight 20-plus win seasons from 1990-2001. UAH has also been to the NCAA tournament in back-to-back fall campaigns.
