HUNTSVILLE | After taking the week off for the holiday break, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will return to action this weekend at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall when the squad continues Gulf South Conference play, welcoming Valdosta State at 2:00 p.m. on Friday before a visit from West Florida which is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off on Sunday.
The Chargers head into the weekend at 1-8 (0-4 GSC), while VSU will come to the Rocket City at 9-2 (4-1 GSC) and UWF enters the weekend's contests at 10-1 (5-0 GSC).

As UAH returns to conference play, the team features three players that are scoring in double figures with redshirt senior Selena Pruitt leading the way with 11.9 points per contest, and she also leads the team on the glass recording 5.3 boards per outing. Alexis Woods and Miajah Bullock round out the double digit scorers for the Chargers with Woods posting 11.3 points per game and Bullock averaging 10.2.
Before the holiday break, UAH hosted West Georgia, falling 70-44 in Huntsville and then paid a visit to Lee dropping that contest 73-45 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Friday's visitors have won four of their last five outings, the last win was a 72-64 home victory over Auburn Montgomery. The Blazers are scoring 68.3 points per game and have two scoring in double figures led by Kwajelin Farrar's 14.8 points per contest.Â
The two teams are meeting for the first time since the 2020 season after spending last year's campaign in different divisions, with the Chargers winning 64-58 in the two teams last matchup that took place in Dec. 2019. Overall UAH is 15-38 against VSU and holds an 11-15 record in Huntsville.
The Argonauts have put together a 10-game win streak, beating Montevallo 80-78 in Pensacola, Florida in their last contest before the holiday break. UWF ranks third in scoring in the conference averaging 72.2 points per game.
Similar to Friday's matchup, the two teams are meeting for the first time since the 2020 season after spending last year's campaign in different divisions. The Chargers were 48-45 winners in the two teams last showdown. Overall UAH is 27-31 against UWF and holds an even 15-15 record in Huntsville.
