Chargers Stumble on Sunday in Setback to CBU

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team fell on Sunday, dropping a 72-66 decision to visiting Christian Brothers at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers slip to 8-5 (8-5 Gulf South Conference), while CBU improves to 3-6 (3-6 GSC).

Turning Point
-Christian Brothers would thwart UAH's comeback effort, having an answer each time the Chargers pulled within four on three different trips down the floor late in the contest.

Inside the Box Score
-It was another big day for Alexis Woods as the junior forward scored 24 after going 8-for-11 from the field, and she recorded another double-double as she also grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds.
-Sloan Mann was also strong offensively for UAH, going 6-for-122 from the floor overall including three 3-pointers, and she finished the game with 21 points and a team-high three assists.
-Holly Harris scored nine to go along with four rebounds, a team-best six steals, and two assists.
-Christian Brothers 48.1 percent for the game while UAH connected on 39.3 percent of its attempts.
-The Bucs outrebounded the Chargers by a 34-29 clip.

Inside the Flow
-The lead exchanged hands 10 different times in the first quarter with neither team leading by more than four and with CBU carrying a slim 19-18 advantage into the second.
-It was more of the same in the second quarter until after UAH went ahead 31-29 with 2:33 left in the period, the Bucs ripped off 12 straight points to go up 40-31 at halftime.
-The lead would be 10 again 45-35 at the 7:46 mark of the third before Alexis Woods scored seven of her nine straight points to pull the Chargers within three at 45-42 with 5:54 left in the third.
-Another push for CBU, however, would give the Bucs a 57-46 lead going into the fourth, and that would grow to as many as 12 in the final period.
-The Chargers would cut the margin to just four three different times late in the waning moments, but CBU would hold on for the win.

Noteworthy
-The 21 points for Mann mark a new personal-best, surpassing her previous career high of 17 which she set against Delta State on Jan. 15 of this year.
-Woods now has nine double-doubles on the season.

Next Time Out
-The Chargers return to the road next, traveling to Union for a two-game set that starts with a Friday contest slated to tip-off at 6 p.m.
