UAH Drops Series Finale at No. 20 Lake Superior State Saturday

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team was tripped up in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series finale on Saturday afternoon at No. 20 Lake Superior State by a final score of 4-1. UAH slips to 3-12-1 (3-7-0 WCHA), while LSSU improves to 12-4-3 (6-3-0 WCHA).
 
Turning Point
-Lake Superior State scored back-to-back unanswered goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead on the way to topping UAH 4-1 on Saturday.
 
Scoring Breakdown
-UAH went on the board first at 5:33 of the opening period when Quinn Green deflected in a slap shot by Dayne Finnson on the power play. Tyrone Bronte also notched an assist after setting up Finnson for the shot.
-Lake Superior State evened the contest at 1-1 at the 10:41 mark of the first period with a goal by Mitchell Oliver.
-The Lakers scored twice in the first half of the second period by Hampus Eriksson at 4:16 and Louis Boudon at 7:15.
-LSSU scored early into the third period at 2:40 by Brandon Puricelli, which gave the hosts a 4-1 lead that would stand as the final score.
 
Inside the Box Score
-David Fessenden's record slipped to 3-6-1 on the season, after totaling 17 saves and four goals allowed in his start between the pipes.
-The Chargers registered 20 shots on goal in the contest, led by Ben Allen, Finnson and Bennett Stockdale.
-Josh Martin registered a team-high three blocks, as UAH recorded 12 blocks as a team.
-UAH held LSSU scoreless in its lone power play on Saturday.
 
Noteworthy
-Bronte has recorded at least one point in a series dating back to the Jan. 8-9 series against Ferris State, as he continues to lead the roster with 13 points on four goals and nine assists.
-Green's goal was his third of the season and second of the week, after scoring in the finale at NMU on Wednesday.
 
Next Time Out
-UAH is set to take on Bowling Green on Wednesday at 6:07 p.m. CT, before returning home on Sunday for a 3:07 p.m. game at the Von Braun Center which is the final home game of the season for the Chargers.
