No. 10 UAH Tripped Up on Senior Day at Spragins

HUNTSVILLE | The No. 10 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team saw its 12-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, falling 80-65 to visiting Union at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers slip to 12-2 (12-1 Gulf South Conference), while UU improves to 10-6 (10-6 GSC).
 
Turning Point
-A four-point halftime lead for Union quickly became a 10-point margin just over three minutes into the second half, and the Bulldogs would lead by double figures for much of the remainder of the game.
 
Inside the Box Score
-The Chargers were led in scoring on the day by JJ Kaplan who was 7-for-15 on his way to scoring 17 while also grabbing five rebounds.
-Shooting 7-for-11 from the floor and scoring 15 was Seth Swalve who also handed out a team-high three assists.
-Sam Orf rounded out UAH's double-figure scorers as he had 13.
-UAH's leading rebounder was Max Shulman who had eight, while Kerney Lane had seven boards to go along with eight points.
-The Chargers connected on 40.6 percent of their shots but were just 4-for-22 from 3-point land, while Union shot 44.9 percent overall and made 12 3-pointers.
-Union won the rebounding battle by a 42-37 margin and built up a 17-6 edge in second-chance points.
 
Noteworthy
-The contest marked the final regular season home game for UAH's six seniors – Lane, Kaplan, Orf, Swalve, Jack Kline, and Riley Webster – who were honored prior to the game in a special on-court ceremony.
-Kaplan is averaging 14.3 points per game since his start to the season was delayed due to injury, and he is shooting 58.9 percent.
-Swalve has reached double figures in four straight.
 
Next Time Out
-The Chargers close out the regular season on the road next weekend, traveling to Mississippi College for a two-game set. The series starts on Friday night with tip-off slated for 6:30 p.m. in Clinton, Mississippi.
