UAH Triumphant in Return to Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 win over Montevallo on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. The Chargers improve to 1-0-1 in the GSC Spring Championship Series, while the Falcons fall to 0-2-0.
 
Turning Points
-After a scoreless first half, the Chargers wasted no time getting on the board in the second 45 minutes as Shalev Keter scored from Andreas Tsimon just 1:46 into the period to make it a 1-0 lead for UAH.
-Nearly half an hour would go by before the hosts jumped in front 2-0 as Sander Van der Sluijs assisted on Marten Nilop's 74th minute tally.
-Montevallo cut the Blue and White's advantage in half in the 78th, but Rafa Moreno answered just three minutes later off a ball played by Aaron Chavez to restore the two-goal advantage at 3-1.
-Icing the contest, Moreno added his second of the game in the 89th.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Moreno paced the Chargers with six shots of which half were on goal.
-Giancarlo Martinez made four stops in goal to earn the win.
-The Chargers finished the game with a wide 28-10 advantage in shots including a 20-4 edge in the second half, and UAH enjoyed a 9-5 edge in attempts that were on target.
-UAH racked up nine corners compared to just one for Montevallo.
-There were 25 fouls whistled in the contest, and the official went to his book eight times including sending off a UM player in the 70th minute.
 
Noteworthy
-Moreno now has 25 goals in a Charger uniform while pushing his career collegiate total to 37 with the two-goal performance.
-Martinez earns his first win in the Blue and White after transferring from Coker.
-UAH is unbeaten in four straight against the Falcons and improve to 9-4-0 at home.

-The Chargers continue play in the SCS on Friday when Lee visits Charger Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
