LIVINGSTON, Ala. | Extending its winning streak to eight games, the No. 11 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team earned a weekend sweep at West Alabama with a 71-62 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 8-1 (8-0 Gulf South Conference), while UWA falls to 3-5 (3-5 GSC).
Â
Turning Point
-Similar to Friday night, a big run – this time a 14-2 spurt for the Chargers – to begin the second half helped the team build up a lead that would be too large for UWA to overcome as UAH won on the road for the sixth time this season.Â

Â
Inside the Flow
-The Tigers scored the first seven points of the game and held UAH without a bucket for more than four minutes to start, but a 12-4 run punctuated by a
Nathan Moore dunk would put the guests ahead for the first time at 12-11 at the 11:19 mark of the opening half.
-From there the lead would change hands five times and there were also three ties including at the halftime break as a Lane bucket made it 28-28 going into the second.
-The Chargers again started the second half strong with a 14-2 run turning an early two-point deficit into a 44-34 lead just over six minutes into the period, and UAH would eventually lead by as many as 14 as a Kaplen trey created a 55-41 margin just past the midway point of the half.
-West Alabama would battle back, however, pulling within six at 61-55 with 4:13 remaining in the contest, but the Chargers scored 10 of the last 17 in the game to seal the victory.
