UAH Throttles Birmingham-Southern 24-1 to Start 2021 Campaign

Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team opened up the 2021 season in dominant fashion with a 24-1 victory at Birmingham-Southern on Saturday afternoon. UAH improves to 1-0, while BSC slips to 0-1.
 
Turning Point
-UAH outscored Birmingham-Southern 15-1 in the first half as the Chargers offense rolled to a 24-1 win on Sunday.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Karissa Glover posted 10 points on six goals and four assists.
-Cara Brown led the roster with seven goals while adding two assists for nine points on the day.
-Hailey Gallant scored four goals and registered eight assists for a team-high 12 points.
-Katie Gerber registered five points on three goals and two assists.
 
Inside the Flow
-Springer started off the scoring spree on Sunday with a goal 30 seconds into the contest, as she and Brown each had two goals in the first four minutes to give UAH a 4-0 lead.
-Birmingham Southern scored once at 25:36 to end the initial scoring run, but UAH followed that up with 11 unanswered goals to round out the first half with a 15-1 advantage.
-The Chargers went on to shutout the Panthers in the second half while scoring nine times to bring the game to its 24-1 final.
 
Noteworthy
-UAH has scored 20 or more goals in four of the program's six seasons.
-Gallant's eight assists are a program record for a single game, as Nicole Federovitch posted six assists three times in a game between 2018 and 2019.
