HUNTSVILLE | In a rematch of last year's dramatic quarterfinal match-up, The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team will travel to Montevallo on Tuesday to open play in the 2021 Gulf South Conference Women's Basketball Championship. The Chargers are the third seed from the West Division, while the Falcons have earned the East Division's No. 2 seed.

The two teams met last year in the Rocket City, with UAH winning in the final seconds of the game by an 82-81 score.

The Chargers earned the No. 3 seed out of the West Division after going 8-7 on the season.

A trio of UAH players are averaging double figures in scoring on the year, led by
Alexis Woods who is scoring 15.9 points per game to go along with 11.7 rebounds per contest. The junior forward has posted 10 double-doubles on the season which ranks 11th in Division II, and she is 10th in the country in rebounding.

Thanks in part to 33 made 3-pointers,
Holly Harris is scoring 13.3 points per game, while
Selena Pruitt is averaging 12.8 points per outing.

The Falcons went 13-4 in the regular season in conference play, and UM is 6-3 on its home court this season. Four different Montevallo players are averaging double figures with Jordan Jones at the top of the offensive ledger for the squad with 13.2 points per contest.

Though this will be just the second meeting in the GSC tournament between the two teams, but Tuesday's contest will mark the 69th overall showdown on the basketball court between UAH and UM. Since the Falcons rejoined the GSC, the teams have traded wins with the Chargers having a slight 4-3 edge in the last seven meetings.
