GREENWOOD, S.C. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday, falling 15-14 in double overtime to host Lander in the first-ever Peach Belt Conference game for UAH. The Chargers drop to 2-5 (0-1 PBC) on the season, while Lander improves to 4-2 (1-0 PBC).

-After the teams played a scoreless first overtime, Lander needed just 16 seconds in the second overtime to score the game-winning goal.

Josh Campbell had a strong showing for the Chargers, scoring five times while firing off nine shots of which six were on goal, and he also picked up six ground balls.

Jacob Glen had a four-point day with two goals and two assists, while
Preston Deno recorded three points from two goals and an assist.
-Other goal scorers for UAH included

-Herman registered a team-best 11 ground balls, while

-The Chargers were 20-for-22 in clear attempts compared to a 28-for-32 performance from Lander.
-UAH picked up 61 ground balls, with the Bearcats earning 43.

-The teams traded goals to start the first with a pair of Bearcat scores sandwiching Deno's first of the day to make it 2-1 in favor of Lander in the game's first five minutes, but Herman, Deno, and Glen would score to give the Chargers a 4-2 advantage at the 4:43 mark.
-The last goal of the first and the first two of the second belonged to the Bearcats to give the hosts a 5-4 lead, and though Campbell and
Luke LeVette would tally, Lander got two more goals in the final three minutes of the quarter to go up 7-6 at the half.
-The teams would combine for 10 goals in the third quarter with Campbell,
Jake LeVette, and Phillips scoring the first three to push the Chargers ahead 9-7, and though Campbell would score twice more in the quarter, Lander would notch five of their own to carry a 12-11 lead into the fourth.
-After the Bearcats scored just under two minutes into the period, Baus answered at the 10:44 mark and Glen scored two minutes later with 8:44 left in regulation to tie the contest at 14-14.
-Welsh would record four of his 15 saves in the final minutes of regulation to keep the contest tied and force overtime.
-Both teams hit the post in the first overtime, keeping the game tied and allowing Lander to win it in the second overtime period.

Noteworthy
-The five goals for Campbell is a single-game season-high by a Charger, and it is the best scoring performance by a UAH player since
Luke LeVette had seven against Shorter on April 12, 2019.
