HOOVER, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team has won the Gulf South Conference Championship Series with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) over Montevallo in the tournament finals on Thursday. UAH improves to 6-1, while UM dips to 12-1.

The Chargers had a trio of student-athletes named to the GSC Spring Championship Series All-Tournament Team, including
Abby Brooks,
Sabrina Duncan and
Kendall Scharbert. Brooks was additionally honored as the GSC Spring Championship Series Most Outstanding Player.

A native of Huntsville, Brooks led the Chargers offense in the victory on Thursday with a team-high 12 kills on a .600 hitting percentage. She additionally added eight digs to rank third on the team.

Scharbert joined Brooks in double-digit kills with 11 successful swipes on a .375 swing rate, as she also added a team-high five total blocks.

Duncan notched the squad's lone double-double on the day with a team-high 41 assists and 10 digs, and she was tied for the team lead in digs with
Shayla Libby who also recorded 10 scoops against the Falcons.

The Chargers offense dominated at the outset of the tournament finals matchup with Montevallo, as the Blue & White recorded a .407 team hitting percentage with 15 kills in the 25-18 win in the first. UAH cruised through the second with a 25-14 drubbing to take a 2-0 lead, before a close ending in the third set saw the Chargers seal the victory with a 25-22 win in the frame.

Overall on Thursday, UAH posted a team hitting percentage of .303, while limiting Montevallo to just a .162 swing rate as a team.

This victory wrapped up the Chargers play in the GSC Spring Championship Series, but UAH has two more nonconference matches on deck next week on Wednesday at Lee and on Friday at home against Trevecca Nazarene.
