HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team is set to open play in the 2021 Gulf South Conference Championships as the second seed against third-seeded Montevallo on Wednesday at Charger Park at 4 p.m.

Wednesday's GSCÂ tournament contest will be the first-ever held at Charger Park.

UAH wrapped up the 2021 regular season on Sunday with a 19-7 victory over Lander to give the Chargers a 10-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in GSC play.

The Chargers are led offensively this season by
Hailey Gallant with a GSC-leading 93 points on 46 goals and 47 assists, followed by
Cara Brown with a team-high 64 goals to go along with five assists for 69 points.

Defensively, UAH has allowed 7.39 goals per game, as goalies
Shaina Doser and
Tori Ryan have split time in goal for a combined .383 save percentage.

Montevallo enters the postseason with a record of 8-3 overall and 2-2 in the GSC slate. The Falcons are led by Anja Kuys on offense with 44 points from 34 goals and 10 assists, while Miranda Laird has played the majority of time in goal with a 9.71 goals against average and .472 save percentage.

The winner of the UAH and Montevallo matchup will move on to the GSC Championship game on Saturday against the winner of Lee and Young Harris. The GSC Championship game will be held at the highest-remaining seed.

Fans will be permitted to Charger Park for the semifinal matchup on Wednesday free of charge. Masks will be required when not social distancing.
