HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's lacrosse team opened up the 2021 Gulf South Conference Championships with a 13-8 win in the semifinal round as the second seed over third-seeded Montevallo on Wednesday afternoon at Charger Park. UAH improves to 11-3, while UM dips to 8-4.

UAH now looks ahead to hosting its first-ever GSC tournament final at Charger Park on Sunday at 1 p.m., as the Chargers will take on No. 4 seed Young Harris for the fifth time in program history in the GSC Championship game.

The Blue & White were paced offensively by freshman
Isadora Springer with six points on a team-high five goals and one assist, followed by junior
Hailey Gallant with five points from four goals and one assist.

Katie Gerber,
Karissa Glover and
Savanna Robbins each chipped in one goal apiece in the victory as well.

Shaina Doser played the full time in goal for the Chargers, notching 10 saves and eight goals allowed to earn the victory.

The Chargers and Falcons both scored within five minutes of the start of the first half, before UAH scored three unanswered goals to take the lead on the way to a 6-4 advantage after 30 minutes.

UAH went on to tally the first three goals of second half, as the Chargers would outscore the Falcons 7-4 in the frame for the 13-8 win on Wednesday.

The Chargers outpaced the Falcons in shots on goal (22-18) and ground balls (27-19), while UM edged UAH in draw controls (12-11.)
